Printed Material

Sales brochures, catalogues, mailers or presentation packs – whatever your printed material, it will benefit from sparky, interesting and accurate copy.

A mistake on printed material can be extremely costly. Not only does it look unprofessional, but if you have not had your catalogue, marketing or sales material professionally proofed, it may contain incorrect prices, product information or contact details.

The most important thing to remember about printed material is that once it is printed, the mistakes cannot be corrected.

Professionally crafted copy will avoid costly mistakes and give your company a more professional profile.

FAQs for printed material

Q. How much will copywriting for brochures and other printed material cost?

A. Printed material is the one area of copywriting for which it is difficult to give an idea of figures without having some idea of the project. A simple proofing job can be an inexpensive way of avoiding costly mistakes; a major copywriting project such as writing extensive copy for a 24-page brochure will be costed according to the work required.

In all cases, however, it’s free to ask for a quote.

Q. What is your proofing experience?

A. I spent eight years working as a sub-editor on national newspapers, first as a freelance then on staff. These included The Guardian, The Independent and The Independent on Sunday and I worked on a variety of desks, from news to arts and from features to travel. Working as a sub-editor in a high-pressure, short-deadline environment is excellent training for spotting mistakes in copy, correcting spelling and grammar, writing headlines, cutting copy to fit and understanding the ‘shape’ of a piece of writing.

Q. Can we use website copy on our printed material and vice versa?

A. Many of my clients have had added value from work I have carried out for them by reusing copy across different platforms. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that people read online copy and printed material in different ways. Even if some of the copy can be reused, it often needs crafting to suit the format.
