Michelle Hodgson of Key Words was this week appointed Director of Huddersfield Literature Festival. She will be working closely with the previous Director, author and creative writing tutor Michael Stewart, to organise funding and support, including from the University of Huddersfield, which has given its backing to the project.
The next festival will be a mini-festival over a long weekend in mid-March 2013. Work will then start on producing a more comprehensive annual festival from 2014.
Michelle said: “I’m really excited about this opportunity, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. As well as drawing on the wealth of local talent, I’m expecting to attract some big-name authors from further afield, some of whom have already shown interest in visiting a Huddersfield audience . As well as talking to authors and publishers, I’m looking for support from Kirklees Council, the local Library Services and Waterstones as well as other local venues – at the moment, it’s a question of ‘watch this space’.”
Anyone interested in getting involved with the festival in any capacity should contact Michelle by email: email@example.com or phone: 01484 430 228.
