Make it a year to remember

Happy New Year!

If you’re glad to see the back of 2012, then I hope that things go a lot better for you in 2013. If 2012 was a good year for you, I hope that 2013 proves even better.

This year was the first full year of trading for Key Words and the year that it became a limited company – it’s now officially Key Words Copywriting Ltd, trading as Key Words.

Having launched a new company in the middle of a recession, there’s no doubt that optimism, hard graft and sheer will to succeed have all featured over the past 18 months.

But the other factor that helps is liking what you do. I love writing and I very much enjoy meeting clients, interviewing people and putting on events. Editing Food & Drink News magazine has been a great new challenge for 2012 and I’ve also been busy building on client relationships and writing a new column for The Eye magazine in Huddersfield.

The first exciting challenge for 2013 will be the Huddersfield Literature Festival, HLF2013, which takes place from 14-17 March, with authors Kate Atkinson, Joanne Harris, Jeremy Dyson, Annabel Pitcher and more, plus a special post-festival event with Jodi Picoult on 3 April at Huddersfield Town Hall (more info at HLF2013). As Director, my responsibility is to bring in the authors, organise and promote the events and make sure the Festival is a success. As I’ve said elsewhere, a successful literature festival is not only good for those who love to read: it’s good for the town as a whole.

Whatever you’re planning for the New Year, I’ll be raising a glass to health, success and happiness. Cheers!
